Saturday, June 21, 2008 from 2:30 PM - 5:30 PM (ET)
Digital and film SLR owners with external flash units are invited to learn the tricks of flash illumination from digital photography specialist Melanie Otto.
This unusual & useful photo safari will cover such topics as: understanding sync speeds, varying the power of your flash for fill in portraits, when to diffuse your light, use of bounce and swivel modes for reflected flash, colored gels on flash, use of the various creative flash options offered in digital camera menus, and painting with light for long exposures on large, dark interiors. The venue for this new safari is the beautiful Franciscan Monastery in northeast DC, with its gardens, shaded colonnades, and extraordinary interiors. Tripods, external flash units and SLR cameras required.
Washington Photo Safari uses the beautiful landmarks of the nation's capital to provide multilingual instruction in landmark and travel photography.
